SLEEP IN THE HIGHEST HUT IN EUROPE!
A wonderful trekking in the Italian Alps that will take you from Biella, 410 m, to Capanna Margherita (the highest hut in Europe), on the peak of Mount Rosa, 4554 m.!
For the first three days you’ll walk along the "Alta via del Biellese", then you’ll pass to the Val Sesia valley where, in Alagna, you’ll take a cable way lifting you to the Salati Pass (2971 m). From there, you’ll trek up to the top of Mount Rose.
A challenging trek for trained trekkers, with walking sessions of 6-8 hours most of the days.
PROGRAM 5 NIGHTS/6 DAYS
Day 1 (2.5 hour walk). Meeting of the group at the three-star hotel in Biella, equipment preparation and meeting with the mountain guide who will follow you for the whole trek. Transfer by bus to Piedicavallo, starting point of the trek. Easy walk and arrive at the Della Vecchia hut (1872 m.). Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 (6 hours walking). Departure from Della Vecchia hut (1872 m.) to: Gruyere pass (2213 m.) - Ambruse pass (2166 m.) - Riazzale lake (2,032 m.) – Piccola Mologna pass (2,208 m.) - On the crest of the Secondo Gemello of Mologna Piccola, easy passage of via ferrata to arrive at the Primo Gemello of Mologna (2,476 m.) – Mologna Grande pass (2,356 m.) - Rivetti hut (2,150 m.). Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 (6 hours walking). Departure from the Rivetti hut (2,150 m.) to: Mologna Grande pass(2,356 m.) - passage in Aosta Valley through the Loozoney pass (2,359 m.) - short step down to Maccagno pass (2,495 m.) - Alpe Maccagno ( 2188 m.) - the village of San Antonio in Val Vogna (1,381 m.). Transfer to Alagna. Recovery of luggage and glacier equipment (crampons and ice axes). Dinner. Night at a three star hotel in Alagna.
Day 4 (2 hours walk). Starting from Alagna in the late morning. Arrival to Punta Indren (3260 m.) with the cable car. Climb to the Gnifetti hut (3611 m.) or Mantova hut (3470 m.) Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 (7 hours walking). From Mantova or Gnifetti hut climb to Capanna Regina Margherita (4554 m.), The highest hut in Europe. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 (4,5 hour walk). Departure tu Capanna Margherita (4554 m.). Descent to Alagna. Transfer to Biella. Overnight and dinner in a three stars hotel in Biella.
Included: transfer Biella/Piedicavallo and Alagna / Biella, four nights and four dinners in hut, two half board in double room in a three star hotel, glacier equipment transfer.
Not included: helmet, harness, ropes and carabiners rent, packed lunches (can be purchased at the huts). Drinks and everything not mentioned as "included".
A basic experience of hiking with crampon and ice-axe and basic climbing is required.
Season: from around 25th June to 10th September.
